• Ask and It is Given

It was getting toward the end of the month, and my credit card bill was higher than usual. With the recent purchase of a condo, several unexpected expenses had cropped up. This, along with a curious decrease of tutoring students (my other business) meant less income this month.

“God,” I prayed, “I need about $300 more dollars to cover these bills. If there’s a chance to give a Reconnection to someone who is ready for it, help them find their way to me. Thank you.”

Well, no one called for The Reconnection. Indeed, it’s a spiritual process for life purpose people are either drawn to because it resonates, or it doesn’t. But I did receive a phone call from a friend of mine asking me to babysit his two kids over the weekend while he took a class. I don’t usually like to give up my weekends, especially when it’s all day, but something inside me “smiled” at this chance.

So with a deep breath and some trepidation, I said, “Okay.”

“Great!” he said. “I’ll pay you $300 for the weekend.” Interesting.

Be true to the desire but detached from the form in which it comes. The Universe has a way of providing exactly what we need through Its own amazing channels. We need only be open to what is being laid out before us without offering our two cents whether it’s a good idea or not, especially if it feels right in our guts, but questionable to our heads. Only then can we receive the good the Universe desires to send our way.

To exercise your “receiving” muscle, follow these 3 steps:

    1. Ask a Higher Power for help. I suggest you write down your prayer and date it. We often forget what it is we’ve asked for and will be amazed at how soon the answer comes.
    2. Say, “Thank You”, knowing as you ask, so shall you receive. Period.
    3. Watch for the ideas and opportunities that come your way. Talk it out with others if you must. Gather information if it helps. But be open and willing to act on these impulses, especially if they’re unexpected or bring a sense of peace to your heart, though your mind resists.

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” Matthew 7:7

Ask. Trust. Receive. And if you really want a challenge, let yourself enjoy receiving:)

After coaching, I actually have a sense of “self,” that I had previously lacked.  Through our work together, I was able to see that I am more than the labels by which I had defined myself.  I am more at peace with my life and have been able to take advantage of opportunities for personal growth which I would have previously missed.  Dawn is an amazing coach who has an innate gift to separate the struggle from the person and help us see what we cannot see within ourselves.”
