• Living Through Uncertainty

We will have many times in our lives where we feel uncertain about our future, the outcome for a loved one, or the way a given set of circumstances will play out.
We feel afraid and we want to feel secure, so we seek to control the conditions or people involved, and what we can’t control, we obsess about. We can’t sleep, we can’t eat or overeat, we drink or numb ourselves with some other addictive behavior, or we find ourselves short tempered and reactive to the people around us. Many times, we do all of these.
But know this, your peace is your litmus test.
If you do not feel peace, then it is not the truth.
The answer to living with uncertainty comes from knowing two things:
    1. There’s a Power always working on your behalf.
    2. Anything beyond your control is not your business.
When we are feeling anything but peace, we have fallen into thinking we must control something outside of us in order to be okay. But the proof is in the pudding. If by fixing and controlling, we stir ourselves up into a state of anxiety and fear, then it’s a sure sign we’ve missed the mark – and the point.
The point of any given circumstance is to teach us something about love, not to destroy us or punish us. The Universe is a loving Universe that only seeks to help us.
So when things get rocky, don’t panic, get curious instead.
Ask yourself, “What is the Universe up to? What good is coming out of this?” Then get excited  – even if your personality self isn’t so pumped, your spirit knows freedom, joy, and love will be on  the other end.
    In the meantime:
    1. Do what calms you – listen to music, read or speak words of faith, watch funny movies with a friend, or take a walk in nature
    2. Stick to the facts, not the projections
    3. Do what’s in front of you to do – make a phone call, gather information, start the project, or do the dishes
    4. Repeat
Your job is to choose to sit in peace – God’s job is everything else.
You are safe, you are loved, you are led – always!
