• The Magic Behind Surrender

I used the word “magic”, but it’s not magic at all. Magic deals with illusions.

What we’re referring to here, is miracles.

“Miracles are a natural occurrence, but when they do not occur, something has gone wrong.”

    A Course in Miracles

A Course of Love tells us miracles are a natural consequence when we join with our Inner Teacher. Magic is our attempt to do miracles on our own.

What does this have to do with your money? Your relationships? Your career? Or the upheaval taking place in the world today?

    In a word: everything.

To surrender and “resign” as our own teacher is to admit we do not know. And we hate to admit that!  It’s one of the major things western society frowns upon.

They prefer questions like, “What are you going to do about it? What’s your plan?”

Who on Facebook would applaud us if we did not expound on our achievements? Share our success in reaching our goals? How good would we look if we simply said, “I don’t know. I’m just going to hang out, wait, and not worry about it.”

But worry about it, we do. We worry WAY too much over where our lives are going and how we’re going to get there.

In fact, doing this is leads to the opposite of miracles. It puts us in charge of making our lives into what we believe would be a success.

And yet, the only thing anyone truly wants is to feel joy burble from a never ending well in her heart. To feel love flow out of him and to him in a never ending circle. And to feel the wind of freedom and contentment blow upon her face.

Facebook won’t give you that, and neither will reaching your goals. They will feel good for a little while, until we decide there is something else we want and need.

And the planning, goal setting, and efforting all begin again.

When we surrender our lives to the Power that lives within us, we are essentially asking that our lives be used for Love’s purpose.

But the fear is if we do that, we won’t get what we want or need. We are, in that moment, believing we don’t have what we want and need.

It is only when we recognize our wholeness is a done deal simply because we are an extension of Source (who is already whole and complete) do we stop seeking.

And when we are no longer striving, we stop, look around, and notice our lives – the one we stand in right now.

As if lifted out of the scary fun house of the future in our mind, we see with fresh eyes – the eyes of someone who is merely watching, observing, and waiting to see what happens next. This is the place of Supreme Presence.

As we simply watch and listen with an inner ear, we hear the Voice of God.

“He will direct your efforts, telling you exactly what to do, how to direct your mind, and when to come to Him in silence.” A Course in Miracles

The real question we should be asking ourselves is not, “What should I do next?”, but “What would You have me do next?”

Begin to let go more, and watch with curiosity what unfolds in your life.

For when you do, you will become a witness to miracles!
